Has anyone seen menuet os?
http://www.menuetos.net/

or its fork kolibrios?
http://www.kolibrios.org/

All I can say is wow, I thought AROS was fast and effecient.

For giggles, I loaded this on the oldest pieces of crap I had around in my pile of junk, and it these both scream on anything I tried them on, even on a 486 66dx2!

Menuet is just one floppy disc, kolibrios is a few floppies with cdrom iso available.

I don't believe in the philosophy of programming everything in assembly, but perhaps the kernel itself and bootloader SHOULD be done in assembly, it has obvious advantages.
I'm very impressed with this because its also a RTOS, and it multitasks better than anything else I've ever tried, especially on REALLY old pc's.

Kolibrios boots from cdrom to full desktop in 2-3 seconds on a 1ghz pc. Like literally as soon as I turn the computer on and the cdrom spins up, boom, you have full graphical usable desktop. On hd, this would be even faster I'm sure.

There is something to be learned from AROS in this, at least I think so.

I don't like the gui, very unelegant but whats under the hood here, is just a VERY beautiful thing indeed!

I like Menuet OS and Kolibri OS too, but I don't think AROS has much to learn from them, simply because they were coded in assembly, which means they aren't easily portable, which is one of the key features AROS works towards.
