Hi All,

I would like to ask people to do some testing of AROS on their native machines that already run AROS.

Please grab the following zip file:

http://download.aros3d.org/software/isotest.zip

In it you will find two ISOs. Please boot them both on your computers, and answer the questions below:

1) What is your hardware configuration? (CPU/Motherboard/GFX card/Network card/Sound card)

2) Booting aros-pc-i386-01.iso:

2.1) Did it boot from cdrom?
2.2) Did the native graphics card driver work?
2.3) Did the network card driver work?
2.4) Did the sound card driver work?
2.5) Did OWB (available on ISO) work?
2.6) Did you experience crashes? (describe if yes)

3) Booting aros-pc-i386-02.iso:

3.1) Did it boot from cdrom?
3.2) Did the native graphics card driver work?
3.3) Did the network card driver work?
3.4) Did the sound card driver work?
3.5) Did OWB (available on ISO) work?
3.6) Did you experience crashes? (describe if yes)

This is comparison test, so please be sure to as much as similar actions with both ISOs.

Hi DeadWood,

great work! Here is a first quick-test with the -01.iso:

1) What is your hardware configuration? (CPU/Motherboard/GFX card/Network card/Sound card)

. CPU: P4 3Ghz
. MB: ABIT (don't remember the model, is based on the 82865G/PE/P bridge and 82801EB SATA controller)
. GFX: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 6200 - 128MB RAM
. NIC: Realtek RTL-8139
. SND: SB Live - EMU 10k1

2) Booting aros-pc-i386-01.iso:

[V] 2.1) Did it boot from cdrom?
[V] 2.2) Did the native graphics card driver work?
[V] 2.3) Did the network card driver work?
[V] 2.4) Did the sound card driver work?
[V]2.5) Did OWB (available on ISO) work?
[not-tested-enough] 2.6) Did you experience crashes? (describe if yes)

No crashes so far, but I tested very few programs. I saw that the bug on the vertical scrolling in Detail-View has been solved, Paolone will be very happy :) There was also a ticket about this in the bugtracker.

(On a sidenote, completely unrelated to this, but maybe since you are already 'in the zone' :D ... well, from OWB select Settings > MUI, then just cancel, then Settings > Preferences: you will get the preferences window mostly broken. transparent background, broken graphics in buttons etc. - it happens with other programs too, WookieChat I remember)

I will try to test more programs tomorrow for eventual crashes or quirks, then next days the -02.iso.

Can you give us some hints on the differences we can expect from -01 and -02.iso ?

Cheers

--LuKe

Now would be useful to have a program like GRUB4DOS, where you can manage and launch multiple ISO on the same pendrive, shame that the ISO AROS they stop on the eyes of "Eyes of Kitty."

-----------------------------------------------------------
Adesso sarebbe stato utile avere un programma come GRUB4DOS, dove si possono gestire ed avviare più ISO sulla stessa pendrive, peccato che le ISO di AROS si fermino sugli occhi di "Occhi di Kitty".

Cele 2.8Ghz/Intel 8?? chipset/Nvidia 5200/ICH4/RTL8139

iso1

Boot: Yes
Gfx: Nvidia (nouveau) works
Audio: Set Music and Unit 0-4 and plays
Net: 8139 set and works
OWB: Works but cancel possible error message on exit
Crash: Not sure if above counts

iso2 (nouveau chosen)

Boot: [Kernel] messages at start about transient rom and at the end about system reboot
Freezes on [Nouveau] VGA fonts and gets stuck there

Jeff.

Some more testing of ISO2

I've boooted it from CD, on my already installed Icaros Desktop virtual machine, so I could run applications from the hard drive

for now, everything I tested works nicely:

- Arospdf
- loview
- owb
- wookiechat
- mplayer
- scout
- muibase
- mathx
- amifig
- lunapaint
- grafx2
- some emulators
- audio evolution 4
- cinnamon writer

unluckily, AROS froze the second time I ran OWB.

@All - Thanks!

@LukeJerry - looking forward to 02 ISO tests

@jeffrey1138 - please use VESA with 02 ISO and complete the tests

@Paolo - run OWB a couple of more times and run DOpus as well checking it functionality if you can

@Senex - please use wget to download the zip, downloading from web browser can cause problems

It would be useful to know what drivers are modified from the last version. AROS is working rather well on my Thinkpad x61t and Thinkpad A31p, there are only these issues:

Thinkpad x61t: Intel HDA audio driver had so Sound, although the card was shown in the list.

Thinkpad x61t: Intel GMA X3100 3D is not working (Hurrican double screen problem etc).

Thinkpad A31p: full or better support for the ATI Mobility FireGL 7800 M7 (ID: 0x1002/0x4c58)

If these drivers are the same as on the Icaros 1.4.5 Update 2, it wouldn't be neccessary for me to burn CDs.
