Also:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Backup von Icaros 1.52 gemacht,
2. die Icaros-Platte mit GParted komplett gelöscht hatte.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Weiter:

Willkommen Ga-Venga!

Hast Du auch mal andere Bootoptionen probiert?
z. B.
ATA=32bit,nopoll,nolegacy

oder

ATA=32bit,nosata2pata

Dritte Variante:

ATA=32bit enableusb noacpi

Hi!

I have the same problem, I had Icaros 1.5.2 installed on my system and I installed Icaros 2.0 above it. When i started Icaros i had to choose the 3rd Grub entry (the one with no TLSF), else I would get the following error:

Quote:
Software Failure!
Program failed
Task: 0x01061470 - Boot Task
Error: 0x80000008 - Privilege violation error
PC: 0x0100000B
CPU context:
EAX=0x00000003 EBX=0x056D5CDF ECX=0x013E0388 EDX=0xFFFFFFFF
ESI=0x0108FF54 EDI=0x00000001 ESP=0x013E0364 EBP=0x013E0394
EIP=0x0100000B ESP=0x013E0364 EFLAGS=0x00013206
CS=001B SS=0023 DS=0023
ES=0023 FS=0000 GS=0000
Stack trace:
0x013E0394 Invalid stack frame address

I can then press Log, Suspend, Reboot or Power off.

But when I start with the 3rd Grub entry (no TLSF) Aros boots up.

I tried a view apps, most of them work, OWB and mplayer throw some error:
Quote:
Smart Filesystem request
Volume 'AROS'(DH0: ahci.device, unit 0)
There was an error while accessing this volume:
Unknown error.
errorcode=-6
io_Command=49152
io_Offset=286443008
io_Length=6588928
io_Actual=0

I already tried to reinstall Icaros 2.0 (again formating DH0 and DH1) but the error for OWB and mplayer remained...

One thing i still can try is to boot up with my ubuntu and remove the AROS rdb partition and try to set it again and reinstall Icaors... any other hints?

My system is a Dell Precision 380 with 4GB RAM, Pentium D 3GHz, 2 SATA HDDs (1st HDD: FAT/NTFS/extended Partition(ext4/ext4/swap)/RDB(DH0/DH1)

Hi SOL-Invic,

i do make one assumption an that's that you not only formatted but also _partitioned_ the existing icaros partitions. it doesn't matter if you choose the same sizes, key is that the partition information is written to the bootblock/rdb as some things changed along the way and could cause havoc.

Other then that, a not so good option perhaps in your case might be switching sata controller into legacy mode (that is if aha's suggestions didn't work for you). But that could lead to problems when booting another OS' (when present at all).

I had the same error code (-6) when ahci.device(has writing to disk problem but not reading) is enabled..

change this line in your grub and reboot if that helps

#module /Devs/ahci.device << disable
module /Devs/Alt/ata.device << add this line instead

and sata controller can be ahci in bios..

@SOL-Invic

I agree with magorium that you should try using ata.device instead of ahci.device (even if it's just for diagnostic purposes and not a long-term solution). On some machines it's not necessary to change BIOS settings to use legacy ATA mode, so first try disabling ahci.device in your GRUB config.

However, I think in most cases it isn't necessary to repartition old AROS partitions.

@aha

Currently, the use of "noacpi" isn't to be recommended: there is a bug in the PCI subsystem in Icaros 2.0 that leads to AROS not seeing any PCI devices if this option is used.

@magorium
I just used the normal installer, checked the format box for DH0 and DH1. So the partitioning happend before when I was first installing AROS (ages ago :) )

@serk118uk and ncafferkey
thanks for the hint with disabling the ahci.device - this alone was enough to start OWB and mplayer without any error! So i'm using module /Devs/ata.device - it works! :)

Ok, disabling the ahci.device module in GRUB does not help when I want to start 'Icaros Desktop (native graophics)' or 'Icaros Desktop (true colour VESA graphics)'.

Still the same error with changing values...
