AROS native IDE

I've come across AmiDevCpp and Murks! Are either of these actively used? I'm hoping to find a decent C/C++ IDE. I won't mind if it supports other languages or can be configured to support additional languages. But I'm going to get my feet wet with C/C++ code, so that's my main focus.

Thanks!

Well Murks! is very basic and should do for simple programs. Also since I'm an admin of that project, in case you would like to extend it, I can add you to the project :D

Coding Murks! in Murks! :D

Sounds good! I'm starting with something that will hopefully be extremely simple. Once I've done that, I'll probably grab the Murks! source out of curiosity.

Who knows, I may think of something I want to try and add later.

Out of curiosity, do you do most of your coding inside AROS or on another platform and then cross-compile for AROS?

Thanks!

I personally mostly cross-compile and debug AROS a lot under Linux.

Initially, I'm doing a little C and Pascal directly in AROS. origami gave me some great guidance on setting up FPC for cross-compiling. I hope to have time to get that working before Monday. Then my next step will be to learn how to cross-debug AROS apps that I have cross-compiled.

Baby steps... :)

It would be really, really nice to have an AROS port of Scintilla, which is an excellent text editing library used by a lot of text editors and IDEs including Notepad++, Geany, Komodo, and Programmer's Notepad.

I have it partly ported but it still needs a lot of work - if anyone is interested I can provide the stuff I've done so far.

I havent installed AROS in a while and would like to get back to it, is Murks bundled with the Live DVD setup or do you have to download it from somewhere?

Having a C++ IDE and Compiler INSIDE AROS would be a HUGE plus for me as I like coding native and testing different aspects of the platforms im using.

You should try coding on linux and testing in linux hosted. You can setup your favorite IDE as I did. Look at this movie:

Murks! is still included in Icaros Desktop Live but, frankly speaking, I ran it and test compiling examples for the last time years ago. I admit I don't even know wether it's working anymore or not. So any feedback and any help to find and fix issues is welcome.
