Port of an internet browser rendering engine to AROS + small Browser to make it usable.

Short: Port of an rendering engine (like WebKit, KHTML or Gecko, -not limited to these) to AROS, plus a small Aros Zune based browser to make it usable. There has to be a clean seperation between the engine and the UI, so that the engine can be turned (later) into an .library, .mcc or something similar to use in your favourite application.

Licence: Preferably released under the AROS licence if possible, but to be decided depending on orginal licence. Please be aware that this must be a full open sourced project.

What should be done in bounty release:
Engine:
Required:
- XMLHttpRequest
- CSS/text rendering
- basic javascript support
- unicode/utf support
- jpg, gif, png images support
Optional:
Everything you seem fit a modern engine.

Ideally the engine is turned into an own .mcc (like the HTMLview.mcc) or .library at bounty release, so that it can be used in other applications.

Browser:
Required:Small Aros Zune based browser that uses datatypes and the rendering engine mentioned above. The browser should be able to display e.g. AROS-EXEC, Slashdot and GMail correctly.

Optional: You can add things like tabs, bookmarks or other goodies but it is not necessary for bounty release.

Um... XMLHTTPRequest but no JavaScript? Methinks there's a missing item in the prerequisite chain here. If you're thinking in the terms of support for AJAX programs, that might be a monumental undertaking best reserved for a later bounty. But, yes, support for this!

Two lines below XMLHTTPRequest is Javascript support mentioned. I did ask several times if anything is wrong with this bounty proposal... as i'm not too familiar with all of this. I only looked up things that people wanted, seemed reasonable from overall reactions and put them together. Is it too much, (too less) to think to get this feature? By the way i have no clue what AJAX is, sounds like a german bath cleaner...maybe i try wikipedia

If we are at it, what is better in terms of "keeping feet on the floor":
Javascript support or basic javascript support - or does it make no difference at all?

As for redirecting the money from the other Bountys: I don't know if it is that easy. People gave it for a "special" purpose. Maybe it had to be announced some time before so people could give Feedback if they are against it...but i think it has be done before (Lynx?)...

I think Dammy wouldn't mind if people ask him to re-direct their money to this one.

To be clear from my side: I would have no problem that, if this bounty is still unassigned when Marcik has finished Sputnik for MOS and AOS. That he takes it and ports Sputnik to AROS. The important thing would be that he had to release the full source of all things necessary. No full source - no money.

Yesterday i visited the Open source A-Web page. Seems like some of the people there want to go the KHTML route-so these people would be welcome too, like any other developer who feels like doing it.

And before i forget it, my vote for this bounty.

Bye

Marcik will not open source _everything_ he has stated on morphzone that he would never use GPL code as he then would have to open source everything! so dont expect him to do that :).

He is mistaken then since he is the orginal coder (not for the s60), he can do whatever he likes as GPL protects him. GPL does not deprives him of his rights of the code, he may do as he wishes.
