Hello,

Since the gift season is upon us, I decided to give a try at compiling MorphOS port of MPlayer. With Fabien's help I was able to come to this:

http://aros-exec.org/modules/xcgal/thumbnails.php?album=91

The AROS MPlayer quality at this point is alpha. It just was compiled and I'm quite surprised it ran out-of-the-box. There is not sound support yet, but I hope I will as easy as video was. Also MANY features are disabled (like GUI for example) but I hope to enable them in time. If you are interested in playing the current version, please let me know and I will upload it somewhere.

I think I speak for most and say, yes please upload it. Oh and is there a way I can embed this into an application I am trying to write.

Steve

Ok,

I uploaded the binary here:

http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/10860704/file.html

NO GUARANTEES IT WILL WORK AT ALL

I also enable sound support (but it is fuzzy).

The command line is:

mplayer -vo cgx_wpa -ao ahi_dev <filename>

without sound:

mplayer -vo cgx_wpa <filename>

Have fun :) When reporting crashes, please list of your CPU has MMX/MMX2/SSE/SSE2/SSE3 instructions.

Holy S*it how FAAAAAAAST it is on native 2.6Ghz celeron and some NVidia gfx card! This my friend is AWESOME!

I knew that with such a small system overhead Aros could exel in video playback!

When the Poseidon bounty came up I tried to get some people interested in Aros (and to donate to the bounty ) here in Finland claming that Aros could be a good candidate in HTPC use (acronym for home theatre PC or something similar where a PC is used for video/audio source +TV cards DVB-C/T)
Now I have something to show! Thanks a lot!

P.S. I would LOVE to see them sources, as I in my desperate attempt have tried this same... I'm just not a good coder!

Tried it now :)
In VESA modes it works great. Sound is little buggy, but guess that is not a big deal to fix.

The problem for me is in ati-mode.
If trying to play mov... I get this
FATAL: could not initialize videofilters or video output ?
I know ati-driver is little buggy.
I have asked a friend to try it in nvidia-mode, so I will post if it works there.

Also tried mp3, wav files, and that worked great. No bug with sound there.

Thx a lot again

Aros Mplayer claims that
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0

but the same machine on linux says
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1

but Linux MPlayer is with runtime CPU detection.

Aros Mplayer also claims system to be too slow all though Quake plays just fine at the same time as playing 720 x 576 video, it doesn't claim so if I disable sound with -nosound (Could setting task priorities differently help?)

-fs fullscreen works also
