As indicated earlier I prepered a package of demos with embeded gallium nVidia driver.

The can be downloaded from: http://www.speedyshare.com/219193324.html

In order to have them rendered correctly you need GeForce 5,6 or 7. GeForce 1, 2, 3 and 4 is also support, but due to driver lacking too many functions you will not see any rendering - this will improve when nouveau team improves the drivers. Using these demos with GeForce 8 and above will most probably crash AROS - drivers for these cards are not yet ported to AROS.

In order to run the demos:

a) start AROS in VESA mode (any resolution, 16 or 32 bit)
b) start demos from command line
c) some demos might need stack increased
d) don't run more then one demo at a time

Known issues:
a) you can't take a screen shot of what is rendered
b) when draging a window with rendering inside over other other windows quickly, part of the rendering "stays visible" on other windows

Please report your results. I'm especially interested in GeForce 7 cards results - they should work, but have not been tested at all.

If your card should be supported, but nothing is rendered, check the console output and sashimi output. Paste them in this thread.

Ehm... what AROS version do we need, exactly? Should we try on the latest nightly/custom build, or is Icaros 1.1.5 just enough?

I never tought I would ever see something like this on AROS.
Fantastic work Deadwood, works great on my 6800. I have a 6600GL also, to try later today :)
All demos run very fast.

I've tested and it's working pretty fine with my FX5200.
One thing, the morph3d demo display is very dark, I can barely see anything.

Otherwise, it's already a great achievement for AROS.

Thanks Deadwood!

Yannick

PS : what is missing to be able to run the demos with nvidia hidd (I can boot in VESA but not in my monitor native resolution wich is a bit anoying)

It also happens for me. GeForce 5XXX driver code does not seem to support some modes of lighting.

Nice. Can you give us more, but with steady camera? Shaking it and zooming all the time annoys a bit? :)

Are you sure those modes of lightning are supported by shader model 2.0?

Ok, I have just found 10 minutes of time to connect back my GeForce 7800 to the AROS machine, pass your demos to pub: and extract them.

I set stack to 1000000 for everyone and now they work without crashes.

Well, what can I say? My jaw almost dropped on the floor! That's great! GlExcess run fine, however... isn't there any way to use a better resolution than 640x480?

EDIT: ok, found it by myself
GLExcess-gallium 0 1024 768
(and use A Z key to toggle speed)

Now I can't wait to see Eternal Lands accelerated by hardware, and MESA games using the drivers you're porting.
