Are icotools available for AROS?

Hi. Just a question: are icotools (or something similar) available for AROS?

http://www.nongnu.org/icoutils/

I would really need an AROS program to extract icons from Windows and Linux executables in .PNG format. Best of all if it works from the command line.

thanks and kind regards

In a related question, is there a way currently in AROS to quickly replace individual icons associated with files or just the manual copy, replace and edit process?

@O1i

Wow! Thank you so much, I'll test it ASAP.

@Miker

Hmmm, IIRC, Magellan should give you the chance to replace icons with ease. But I may be wrong.

It works! Unluckily, it saves incons in .ico format, and I don't know how to handle it from the AROS side (maybe someone knows a command line utility to convert it to PNG, but unluckily I don't). I've talked about icotool because I was sure it can extract to .png, which is far more AROS-friendly. In any case, thank you sooo much for the effort and for the interest!

EDIT:
ok, it seems this will do the trick
http://aros-exec.org/modules/newbb/vi ... pe=&topic_id=9185&forum=4
I will just keep the 'convert' utility for Icaros Light, since the whole ImageMagick package wouldn't fit into the CD-ROM (I'll have to cut something anyway, I guess...)

@Miker

Yes, I can confirm. Using Magellan you can select icon information, and then drag another icon from another window and drop it to the information window. The icon in the box may disappear, but if you click on the save button, the new image will replace the old one, keeping all the tooltypes originally associated to the old icon.

So it's a drag-n-drop operation and the Information window is from Dopus 5 then. That's very nice.

ICO format is very easy. I have written tools to extract ICO images to PNG, or other modern picture format. If fact, for an IconEdit program I'm working on I could allow selecting an Ico file to extract png images. Then combine selected images to AROS PNG Icon file. Getting that to work in AROS would probably use DataTypes.

Does MultiView support opening ICO files and saving as separate PNG images?

If you are working on something around an icon tool, please consider to think also to a solution for my problem.
Drop me a pm if you need more info.

On whole of aminet and os4depot, i am unable to locate a tool named ico2iff.

A link would be helpful, if even to determine how it expects the parameters (assuming you wish to have a tool that acts similar).

That would require a proper datatype
