Unbelievable, I found a Youtube video of a game which I wrote in 1987 for the VIC-20:

Very nice! I didn't know you were coding that early.

This reminds me in 1987 I had already switched from my old Commodore 16 to a 128, and almost gave up writing progrms in BASIC already to do... well... nothing.

Shame on me.

Respect, Mazze. That was way cool. I loved the VIC-20. Bring me SnakePit on AROS any day :)

Cool. Was it written in assembler or BASIC?

BASIC. IIRC for the "sprites" I had to change the character set. All images were in a 8x8 matrix and the address of the character set had to be changed to that data. Those were the days.

The VIC-20 was a great machine; I still fire mine up every so often. Yes, any custom graphics had to be mapped to the character set. I remember creating a 'hi-res' screen by 'printing' out the re-mapped characters in a matrix across the display and then, to plot a pixel, you had to convert its x & y coordinates to the specific bit in the particular line of the appropriate character... Indeed, "those were the days"!

Cheers,
Nigel.
